Royal Caribbean Mariner of the Seas redeployment

Read more 0
Royal Caribbean International announced the redeployment of Mariner of the Seas, which will take effect in January 2011.  Mariner of the Seas will offer a short South America season before debuting in the Mediterranean as Royal Caribbean International’s record-setting 11th ship in the region for summer 2011.  Mariner of the Seas will homeport at Rome (Civitavecchia) from March until October 2011, replacing Splendour of the Seas, which will now homeport in Venice, offering 10- and 11-night Greek Isles and Turkey itineraries for the season.  Mariner of the Seas will then return to North America for the 2011-12 winter season, offering seven-night Western Caribbean itineraries from Galveston, Texas, replacing Voyager of the Seas.  As a result, Voyager of the Seas will mark Royal Caribbean’s return to New Orleans in winter 2011-12, offering holidaymakers another Gulf Coast port to embark on a memorable seven-night Western Caribbean cruise.
The Mexican Riviera has traditionally been an important market for Royal Caribbean International, with the Port of Los Angeles and Mexican local, state and federal government agencies, and their private sectors playing a supportive role as valued partners.  While Royal Caribbean International looks forward to returning to the region in the future, Mariner of the Seas will sail its final round-trip Mexican Riviera itinerary from Los Angeles on 9 January 2011.
Guests currently booked on Mariner of the Seas’ Mexican Riviera sailings from 16 January 2011, and onward have been  contacted with the following offer. Until 6 May 2010, affected guests can opt for a full refund of any fares paid, or enjoy $200 onboard credit per stateroom ($400 per suite category stateroom) when they rebook their holiday, at the same fare or lower prevailing fare, on a Mariner of the Seas sailing before 16 January 2011, or on the same 2011 departure date aboard Voyager of the Seas, sailing from Galveston.
On 16 January 2011, Mariner of the Seas will reposition from Los Angeles on a 16-night itinerary to Valparaiso, Chile, followed by a 14-night sailing that cruises the Straits of Magellan and Cape Horn at the southern tip of South America to Sao Paulo (Santos), Brazil.  The ship will then offer a short Brazilian cruise season, before crossing the Atlantic to debut in Europe at its new seasonal homeport of Rome (Civitavecchia), where Mariner of the Seas will sail seven-night Western Mediterranean and 12-night Mediterranean Holy Land and Mediterranean Egypt itineraries.  In November 2011, Mariner of the Seas will debut at Galveston to offer Texas holidaymakers two roundtrip seven-night Western Caribbean itineraries until April 2012.  Mariner of the Seas’ new 2011 Europe and South America, and 2011-12 Western Caribbean itineraries, Splendour of the Seas’ new 2011 Europe itineraries, and Voyager of the Seas’ new 2011-12 Western Caribbean itineraries will be opened for booking in the near future.
Guests aboard Mariner of the Seas’ new 2011 Holy Land itineraries can choose a variety of shore excursion options, at an additional charge, that visit some of the most sacred sites in Israel, including Bethlehem, Nazareth, the Wailing Wall, the Church of the Holy Sepulcher and many others.  “Grand Overland” takes guests on the most comprehensive overview of this fascinating region with an overnight stay in Jerusalem.  On the Egypt cruises, “Grand Egypt Tour” offer guests a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to visit the awe-inspiring Pyramids and mysterious Sphinx at Cairo, and the Valley of the Kings in Luxor.  Guests also should not miss the largest collection of Roman ruins in the eastern Mediterranean and the iconic Library of Celsius on “Best of Ephesus.”
Unfortunately I have personally had some people affected by this, their cruises have had to be cancelled or rebooked.    My clients found out about this from the internet before Royal Caribbean had informed us or them about it which did disappoint me as well as my clients.

Oasis of the Seas: Royal Caribbean

Read more 0
The Oasis of the Seas, was launched late in 2009, and along with her sister ship, the Allure of the Seas, she is the world's largest cruise ship. The size of the Oasis allowed Royal Caribbean to include numerous venues never before seen on a cruise ship, such as the 700-seat Oasis of the Seas Aqua Theater.
royal caribbean

This water show theater is found on deck 6, at the aft end of the Oasis of the Sea's Boardwalk, one of seven neighborhoods on the ship. The Aqua Theater has both a daytime water show called "Splish Splash", and a nighttime show called "Oasis of Dreams. United States, "Royal Caribbean" including the largest cruise company, is the world's largest cruise ship "Ocean Oasis" (Oasis of the Seas) Cruise will be the world's largest super-cruise, which has 16 decks and 2000 cabin, can carry 6,000 passengers, the ship also has a large shopping mall, numerous bars restaurants, the size of a football field, and rock climbing wall, outdoor amphitheater and other sports facilities.
"Ocean Oasis" in November 2009 for her maiden voyage into the sea, when it is at sea, it is like a "travel the city." "Ocean Oasis" cost 700 million pounds, it is 360 meters wide and 47 meters, 72 meters high, a displacement of 22 million tons, than the "Titanic" 3 times bigger than the current world's largest cruise ship " Freedom of the Seas "also weighed 6 tons. It is understood that a cruise ship drifting at sea will be the Florida city as a port, the implementation of the Caribbean east and west routes, will launch the inaugural trip for 4 nights.
"Ocean Oasis" will no doubt be another cruise ship construction in the history of a miracle in the history to "the largest and most luxurious" cruise does not claim more than the famous "Titanic" is one of them.
According to information, when the "Titanic" total length of about 269 meters, 28 meters wide, 11 stories tall and weighs 46,000 tons, costing a total cost of 75 million pounds. Maiden voyage in April 1912, carrying 2224 passengers, people. In the last century, such a large cruise is also unprecedented, no wonder the builder called it "Titanic", will never be confident giant ship sinking at sea. But, today's "Ocean Oasis" compared to "Titanic" is simply dwarfed. Only from the tonnage of sense, "Oasis" is the "Titanic" 5 times, and its length and height are "Titanic" unmatched

pirates of the caribbean

In anticipation of the opening later this month of PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN 17, my daughter Annie put together a “Pirate Paaaarrr-ty”. She invited a bunch of friends to watch a marathon – the first three PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEANS, along with home baked pirate snacks and decorations. Even my Bob’s Big Boy got into the spirit.

The first installment was a hoot. Johnny Depp’s take on Captain Jack Sparrow was fun and unique – more of a “swishbuckler” than “swashbuckler”. Orlando Bloom was dashing, and it’s always entertaining to see Keira Knightley kidnapped. Sure, there’s a certain suspension of belief. I can’t believe Keira Knightley would be held captive by the pirates and not passed around like a joint. But that’s movie magic. I enjoyed the film in the theater and this weekend as well on DVD.

POTC 2 was an utter mess. Saw that in the theater and found it such a trainwreck I never bothered to see POTC 3. When 2 originally came out I reviewed it in my blog. Here’s the full review, but here’s just a sample:

But my big problem was this – what the fuck was going on?? There’s this ship of slime pirates, and then a map, and a bad guy from the last movie gets hired on the ship, and Keira Knightley is stowing away on another ship, and then some Voodoo lady who’s been eating licorice offers cryptic advice, and there’s a dice game that makes no sense, and Keira’s dress is floating in the water and that is supposed to mean something, and Orlando Bloom’s clothes never get dirty, and they capture a little monkey for some reason, and the Creature from the Black Lagoon visits Jack one night, and Jonathon Pryce complains about wearing a wig, and it’s real important Jack keeps a jar of dirt, and there’s a three-way sword fight between Jack, Orlando Bloom and the bad guy from the last movie where they’re all accusing each other of things more confusing than any BIG SLEEP plot point… etc.

So I skipped the screening of POTC 2. But came back for some of 3, just out of curiosity. I had no earthly idea what was going on. Neither did the others in the room and they all had SEEN this movie at least once before.

The pirates are in a dead world and there are three Jack Sparrows and they sink the ship and hang underwater for several hours until it’s dawn, which rights the ships somehow and they’re back in the real world. There’s a Pirate national convention for some reason and everyone follows these rules that they make up as they go along. Geoffrey Rush, who was killed in the first one, inexplicably comes back in this one. And all he does is eat green apples. Keira Knightley goes from damsel in distress to kick-ass action hero and finally, king of the pirates. That's pretty impressive for someone who weighs 80 pounds.  There are Asian pirates, African pirates, living corpse pirates, and I think I saw some of Captain Hook’s men, too. Licorice voodoo woman grows to 50 feet and then explodes into a thousand coconuts for no reason at all. Just an utter mess.

The next sequel is the prequel we’re told. This time with no Keira Knightley and Orlando Bloom, which tells me they’re the only two actors who asked to read a script first. But Keith Richards is back. He’s the only actor who can play a pirate without having to get into costume and make-up.

So I imagined a scene if I were asked to write PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN 4. This is me and the studio executive.

ME: After three movies and practically nine hours, what pirate genre moment hasn’t been done?

STUDIO EXEC: It doesn’t matter.

ME: The franchise is already getting extremely repetitious.

STUDIO EXEC: It doesn’t matter.

ME: And what was once fresh is now just a series of clichés.
STUDIO EXEC: It doesn’t matter.

ME:  But you'll get terrible reviews.

STUDIO EXEC: It doesn't matter.

ME: No one can follow the story.

STUDIO EXEC: It doesn’t matter.

ME: If this next installment is the prequel, hasn’t the audience already been told everything that’s going to happen?

STUDIO EXEC: It doesn’t matter.

ME: And won’t the fans of the series feel cheated without Keira and Orlando?

STUDO EXEC: It doesn’t matter.

ME: I see you have a new director, Rob Marshall. Isn’t he known for staging musicals and big dance numbers not action?

STUDIO EXEC: It doesn’t matter.

ME: Well then, hell. What does matter?

STUDIO EXEC: We make $500 million and keep the lines long at Disneyland.  Nothing you've brought up will have any effect on that.

ME:  Well, I'm an artist.  I have integrity.  I can't do this.

STUDIO EXEC:  Here's what I'd pay you.

(HE WRITES A NUMBER DOWN ON A SCRAP OF PAPER AND SHOWS IT TO ME.)

ME: I can have the screenplay for you in two weeks.

STUDIO EXEC:  There might be even more sequels involved.

ME:  It doesn't matter.

PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN 4 – Opens May 20th.  Great Paaaaar-ty, Annie. Jack Sparrow would send many lily-livered scum down to Davy Jones Locker just for a bite of your cupcakes.
